Description
WILDCRETE 3D Blessbock
The Blessbock (Damaliscus pygargus) does not bear its name in vain. Its pale face, which contrasts sharply with its dark brown coat, quickly earned it this name. This species of antelope was almost extinct in the past, but its population has recovered to date.
The blessbuck is endemic to South Africa and occurs in large numbers in all national parks with open grasslands, from the Highveld north of the Vaal River, south through the Free State to the Eastern Cape Province. It is a steppe species and avoids wooded areas. It was first discovered in the 17th century, when the herds were so numerous that they stretched from horizon to horizon.
