Description

DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Scarlet - 54 inch - 20-45 lbs - Hybrid bow

Bright red tones are often associated with courage, strength, passion and joy. - In other words, everything that the DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Scarlet and its archer stand for! The courage to draw a bow and let it go at the right moment, the power in the bow, the passion with which the archer practices his sport and the joy he or she feels in doing so. Perfectly combined in the compact and slim DRAKE ARCHERY ELITE Scarlet hybrid bow, which also combines two worlds: at first glance it is recognisable as a longbow, but at 54 inches it is clearly too short to be a "real" longbow. However, it makes up for the lack of size with the typical characteristic of a recurve bow, the clearly visible reflex-deflex shape in the limbs, and thus cleverly combines the characteristics of a longbow with those of a recurve bow. The result is a compact bow with a smooth draw, high arrow speeds and an almost complete reduction of vibrations in the grip. As is usual with a traditional longbow, the string of the hybrid bow does not touch the limbs, but only the tips.

The grip area, which looks very slim at first glance, is "different" after the first time you take it in your hand, because its ergonomic, slightly bulbous shape with a relatively flat palm rest is dimensioned in such a way that it lies optimally in the hand and gives the archer good control over the bow.

The Dymondwood used is an innovative material, made of several layers of wood bonded with epoxy resin to form a highly stable material. The different layers of wood allow a completely new colour design than known from wood and provide an absolutely unique look in red, black and grey tones. But this material also offers some technical advantages: It is light, absorbs vibrations and allows for faster, smoother shooting.

Right-handed or left-handed?

Determination of the draw hand

The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.

Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.

The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.

There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:

  • The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
  • A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
  • The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
  • The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.

If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
