JACKALOPE Onyx - Breathtakingly beautiful.
With the Onyx the JACKALOPE series gains a new, extraordinary member: a distinctive competition bow with impressive characteristics and interesting contrasts. During development, the focus was on optimum competition performance, which has been achieved with inimitable precision, absolute shot smoothness and first-class arrow speeds. These characteristics are achieved by the use of modern and natural materials such as carbon, teknowood, bamboo and rosewood, which also provide the visual contrasts.
The handle area is made of naturally grown rosewood and highly stable micarta, giving it its unmistakable character. Rosewood forms the core and is a heavy, hard wood that gives the handle area something very natural with its extraordinarily decorative grain and warm colours. The black and white details made of Micarta create a beautiful contrast. The grip area is surrounded by a layer of high-quality bamboo wood, which extends all the way to the tips of the limbs. Of course no compromises have been made with these either: Exposed carbon on the front and black glass laminate ensure maximum performance and the highest arrow speeds. Depending on the weight of the arrow, speeds of 230fps and more are not a problem at all.
The bows are named after the onyx, a strong protective and power stone. It is believed to help build emotional and physical strength. The Onyx also protects against negativity and fear, according to an ancient Japanese wisdom: " Fear reaches only as deep as our mind allows it to."
Since ancient times the onyx has been said to strengthen intuition and enhance the senses. And who would not like to appear more focused and confident on the parcours or in competitions? Tradition assures us that those who firmly believe in their onyx will achieve everything they want. There probably could not be a better name for this breathtaking bow.

Right-handed or left-handed?
Determination of the draw hand
The draw hand is the hand that pulls the string. This means that a right-handed bow is held in the left hand and drawn with the right hand.
Determining your personal draw hand has far less to do with whether you are left-handed or right-handed than you might initially assume. It is much more about determining the dominant eye. The dominant eye is used for aiming. This then automatically results in the draw hand.
The term dominant eye refers to the eye whose visual information is superimposed on everything. If a shooter tried to aim with the other eye, he would have to close the dominant eye.
There are two ways of determining the dominant eye: On the one hand, it is the eye that is generally favoured, for example when looking through the viewfinder of a camera, through the peephole or similar situations. On the other hand, there is a small exercise that can be used to determine the dominant eye beyond doubt:
- The arms are stretched out and a triangle is formed with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands.
- A small target is aimed at through the triangle, for example a socket or a cupboard knob. Focus on this object.
- The hands are now slowly brought towards the face without taking the target object out of focus.
- The triangle of thumb and index fingers will involuntarily tend towards one side of the face and this is where the dominant eye is located.
If the dominance of the eye and hand do not match, the bow should still be selected according to eye dominance. The arms can be easily retrained for the new draw hand, but not the eye.
