Description
Shaft | BSW White Fir - Ø 5/16 inch
For the wood type White Fir (Weisstanne), only high-quality, native wood from the Black Forest is used, which has grown at altitudes of over 700m. This wood, which is specially selected for the demands of arrow construction, is characterised by fine-grained annual rings and a straight grain. It is light, yet very stable and has good reflex deflex. Overall, the silver fir (white fir) is an excellent alternative in archery, with characteristics that even cedar wood cannot match.
Properties:
- insensitive to moisture
- very fine grain
- straight grain
- low resin
- light
- very stable
Each shaft is unique
Since wood is a natural product, each shaft is unique. Apart from the standard turned diameter, the shafts differ in their appearance and characteristics.
The grain and appearance (annual rings, flames) is different for each shaft. The spine value is also always individual and cannot be determined exactly, so the shafts are only sorted into categories with a spine width of 5 lbs. To ensure that the shafts are as consistent as possible, all shafts are hand spined, checked for cracks, reflex tested and aligned.
Premium quality
Premium-quality wooden shafts have special characteristics that influence their stability, durability and, of course, the flight characteristics of the arrow. They are specially selected and, even on the outside, have significantly less ‘disruption’ in the grain. The annual rings run more evenly over a longer distance, and the flames that emerge are less frequent.
"Extra-spined shafts" and "weighed shafts"
With the two services ‘Balance shafts’ and ‘Extra Spine’, you can reduce the differences in the characteristics between the shafts.
- With the "Balance shafts" service, you can define the tolerance range for weight deviation within the ordered quantity of shafts and minimise it to up to 5 grains.
- The "Extra Spine" service also allows you to set the tolerance range for the spine and limit it to a maximum of 1 pound.
Technical data:
Shaft diameter: 5/16 inch
Length: 24-31.5 inch (selectable)
Note:
If you choose the extra service ‘Weigh shaft’ and/or ‘Extra Spine’, please note that the shafts can only be shortened and varnished after weighing/spining. Since wood is a natural product, there may be deviations due to the uneven nature after shortening.
