Perhaps the Smallest Hungarian Horse Bow - Ideal for Children
The horse bow was originally developed in Asia. The best-known archers are the Huns and Mongols, who have used this prototype of bow manufactured over centuries. The horse bows were, as the name suggests, designed and perfect for shooting from the horse. After all, when riding on horseback, space is limited or the mounted warrior must remain agile in order to survive or successfully hunt. Following these requirements, the horse bow is very short compared to the long and recurve bow and still has a long draw length.
However, other peoples around the world also developed horse bows, which did not differ significantly in their basic function, but each represented its own variant. In Europe, it is probably the Magyars (Hungarians) who enjoy an excellent reputation as horsemen, shooters and bowmakers and who, in turn, shaped the horse bow themselves.
While the original horse bows were made of wood, horn and strings, modern, less expensive bows use materials such as fibreglass and leather.
The DRAKE Mini is an exception in the already special field of horse bows because with a length of 37" it is one of the smallest Hungarian horse bows and specially made for children. With a draw weight of 10 lbs and a soft draw length up to a maximum length of 22", the bow is well suited for use by children up to the age of 7.
The look of the Mini is based on the larger models of the DRAKE horse bows: Depending on the variant, it is covered with soft leather in black, brown or light brown, the handle is covered with various coloured leather and optically set off by windings with thick thread.
The horse bow is suitable for children and can, of course, also be used without a horse.
