Description

WILDCRETE 3D Bush Pig - Small

The bush pig belongs to the pig family and inhabits forests, woodlands, riverbank vegetation and agricultural areas in eastern and southern Africa. The coat and skin colour of bush pigs varies depending on their distribution area. The populations of the southern Koiropotamus and Nyasae are dark reddish, sometimes almost black. The coat colour becomes darker with age. Their heads have a ‘face mask’ with a contrasting pattern of black to dark brown and white to dark grey, or they can sometimes be completely whitish. The ears have tufts of long hair. Their very sharp tusks are relatively short and inconspicuous. Unlike warthogs, bush pigs run with their long, thin tails pointing downwards.

Bush pigs (Potamochoerus larvatus) are mainly active at night. The animals sleep in burrows they dig themselves and in dense bushes. Their main enemy is the leopard. When cornered, they are quite capable of defending themselves. Bush pigs reach a head-torso length of 100 to 150 cm, a shoulder height of 55 to 80 cm and a weight of 55 to 120 kg.

The animal in group 2 is slightly smaller than its larger counterpart. Especially for traditional archers, the recommended draw weight for recurve bows is max. 50 pounds.
